World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

upgrade item components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item upgrades it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using less Upgrade crystals than they would require to achieve the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-level version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even when they're not sure what can be improved upon a reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a high chance that the item could be obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.

In the final game you'll often discover that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a stat by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that will boost a particular set of stat nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is best to put Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level requires a different amount of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced by a new item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't require it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. The item upgrade will be replaced with a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to upgrade the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items are upgradeable up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item returning to its original condition which means that the player has to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or speed of reload). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

If an item upgrade upgrader mod (information from bbs.pku.edu.cn) is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to the value of the base item. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than standard gear. For instance they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. However, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses listed above.
