UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are found on most doors. These handles can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are usually employed on UPVC double-glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200k cycles and are available in various finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with a spindle and screws which allow them to be put on an existing or new uPVC door. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it depends on how your doors and handle are used. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that increase security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.

A euro cylinder must be measured accurately to ensure it's the correct size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place, but when this isn't possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. They are designed to decrease attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This will help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that are constructed to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is smashed with a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is much quicker and more straightforward than gaining access through a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a break-in, which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found within the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to help return your multipoint lock handles back to their original position after using. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed.
