How to Repair Bifold Door Top Roller Guide

If your bifold door is sticking then it's likely that they require some maintenance. You may need to clean, lubricate or adjust them. The issue could be caused by a loose screw on the top pivot or the top roller guide.

Take the door off

The most frequent issue that internal bifolding doors face is that they slide out of alignment. This could be due to loose screws, holes in the anchor pins, or simply a door that isn't aligned properly. The majority times, this can be corrected by making a few minor adjustments. If, however, your door isn't moving in any way, you might require replacing it.

Take the Bottom Pivot off.

Bifold doors can be an attractive addition to any home, but they often require tweaking or adjusted to ensure they remain in good working order. Another issue that is common to a bifold door is that it scrapes against the floor when it opens or closes. This can occur after installing carpet, or other flooring materials that require the doors to be raised slightly to allow clearance. Removal of the bottom pivot adjustment screw, loosening the top track's mounting screws and moving the anchor pin usually enough to clear this issue.

A new set of roller guides can be an inexpensive solution to your bifold door repair doors being difficult to operate. You can usually find them at your local hardware store in the bi-fold door repair section however, they are also available on the internet from a variety of sellers. You'll also require an elongated squeeze-clamp as well as a small container Elmer's wood adhesive, that is sold in big box stores.
