Today's key fobs do far beyond just unlock and start your vehicle. They also control the windows and sunroof. And as such, they are costly to replace if they are damaged or lost.

It's possible to save money by replacing the fob battery on your own. Here's how: Find an opening on the fob's key and then insert your tool.

Battery

Modern mini replacement key fobs are packed with convenience and functionality, but they require a bit of care to ensure they continue functioning properly. Over time, the battery in the fob's battery will wear out and you'll have to replace it. When your car is harder to start or the buttons stop functioning, you'll know it's time to replace your battery.

It is simple to replace the battery inside your key fob. Place the key fob flat on the surface and press the metal buttons until they pop open. Make use of a flat-blade screwdriver or your fingernail to gently break out the two halves.
