Cheap Single Pushchairs

If you're on a budget and don't want a stroller that doubles up as car seat carriers, the Babyzen Yoyo is a good option. It has a simple one-step foot brake that's flip-flop comfortable.

It's easy to push, and it is solid when navigating kerbs and woodland paths. It's also easy to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

3. Delta Children LX Side by Side

This basic double stroller from Delta Children is an excellent option for parents seeking an affordable second stroller for their travels. It was awarded an impressive score in our Strollers & Multiples test for weight and folded size, which means it's very light, compact when folded and easy to move into a car trunk or closet. It also comes with a multi-position reclined seat and cup holders for the parent. Other key features include 360-degree shock-absorbing front wheels and two large hanging storage bags.

In our test of push and turn, it did better than the majority of other cheap strollers we test, but it's not the easiest to maneuver over uneven ground or through narrow doorways. Its sunshades were among the smallest of all strollers we test. They only cover the top and do not have peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 and Zoe Twin+ have significantly larger canopy sizes.

It took us just under 3 minutes to assemble the Delta with a standard manual. All of the components required tools. The seat can be reclined using one hand, and the big shopping basket makes it easy for parents to help their child in and out. The narrow pushchair sailed through every day bumps and doors easily.

The front wheels can to be locked in a forward-facing position, or they can pivot. This is helpful when navigating rough terrain. On our walk on the stony path, we let them swivel and it did this quite well, although it seemed more bumpy than the other models on test.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2,

Baby Jogger is best known for its 3-wheeled all-terrain strollers for jogging. But they also make a broad selection of pushchairs with four wheels. The City Tour 2 is one of their most popular models. It is simple to use and folds down small enough to fit into a car boot even with the carrycot attached.

It's a bit heavier than other strollers we tried, but the wheels are rubber composite, so it feels sturdy and durable. It's a breeze to maneuver across all types of terrain and it's also a breeze to lift, even when loaded with two children and a shopping bag.

The carrycot and seat both have hoods with pull-down sun canopy extensions that are UV50+. They are durable and waterproof, in contrast to other hoods for prams, which can be blown back onto toddlers' faces.

It's not a lot of storage space, but it does have a large, deep basket to accommodate a changing bag or a large amount of groceries. It can also be connected with the Baby Jogger infant car seat to create a travel system for babies as big as 20 lb (car seat and adapters sold separately).
